TASMANIA, THE PRETENDER STATE

The Pretender State

A very good article some 14 month ago!

In the forest of a night

Now in late November 2003, not much has changed really since the article was written... or has it?

Only that the clearfell cancer in our landscape is getting bigger and bigger, the streams flow lower and a few °C warmer in summer; also the future of our Tasmanian Devil is dark. ... ?

It's a smelly and crawly affair, up there in the hills...

Just to inform and remind the public:

Water users in the Esk Water catchments (just to name one) totally rely on the fine filtration equipment in place and 100% chlorination to keep out nasty micro organisms from decomposing 1080 victims in the upper catchment.

Any doubters may like to take a stroll along the streambanks and swamps, in the thicket where 1080 carrots had been applied (days and weeks later). This is going on around the state and I can speak from experience.

Its a smelly and crawly affair, up there in the hills...

Our clean and high quality hospitality and beverage industry should revolt against this!

However, silence and ignorance, nothing else but the sound of the crows and the thunder of more logtrucks down the gravel highway...

Tassie remains the Pretender Isle, at the end of just another year.
